| Really.
In the seventies, I was production director at WIBG
radio in Philadelphia. It was my
job to produce commercials, promos and just about anything else that had to be
recorded.
One afternoon, program director/air personality, Don Cannon came into the recording
studio and said...
"There's a guy in the lobby who says they're
making a movie...
Yeah, right (Chuckle).
He needs to have the sound of a radio station as
background for the film...
He'd like us to do him a favor and produce something that sounds
like a DJ on-the-air."
So, Don brought in some of his previously-recorded
"greatest bits" and we put together
a short, fake broadcast for this Philly film. We gave our visitor the audio tape
and never
thought about it again... until, we heard our little production was
being used in ROCKY.
Sure, it's Don Cannon's voice on the radio when
Sylvester Stallone is drinking eggs and
runnin' around Philadelphia, but I get to say, "I helped
produce one of the biggest movies
of all-time."
(Yo, it's my story.)
